6:04 Mixtape #8 Curated by Corey Zack (Cocoon Recording)
From acoustic to digital, orchestral strings can really create a mood for any moment in time. For this playlist, I’ve combined some local Jersey City artists I’ve recorded, along with some personal favorites to paint the picture of our current situation this Spring.
I Monster - Daydream In Blue:
A fun song to relate to when you drift off in a quarantine daydream
Geoff and the Suite - Freedom’s Dead:
The songs speaks for itself. Geoff and I are currently working on his second album. Ironically enough, the last thing we need to record are violin and cello.
The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby:
I watched the movie “Yesterday” during quarantine and thought it was an interesting concept. I mean, currently we are kind of all lonely people.
Mike Kuzan (Kuz On Music) - Last Cigarette:
The cinematic element of putting someone in a place and time is my favorite thing to help create as a producer. Working with Mike on this track was not only a pleasure, but made me think a lot about how I’d feel in the character’s shoes. To me, all of Mike’s current releases hit home in the world we currently live in.
Snowmine- Columbus :
In a way, resembles all the time we’ve recently had to dig deep and get to know ourselves better.
Adrian Danon- Mortal Coil:
“Dancing off this mortal coil, what else is a man to do?” We’re all just trying to find our way through life. Adrian will soon be releasing his 3rd song recorded in the Cocoon at the end of this month.
Klangstof- Sleaze:
Although the strings are subtle and a digital pad, I’ve always liked how this song felt. Resembles some quarantine delirium we’ve all probably felt at some point.
Mercury Rev- Holes:
Left open to interpretation, as most songs are.
