Wine and Song: Songwriting Showcase at PS

Hello fellow music friends,

In the cozy little wine bar in the basement of Pet Shop in Jersey City, I plan on having you original songsters get up and do two original songs, and a cover song of your choosing that has personal value to you, and isn’t purely a crowd pleaser. To test and showcase your songwriting capabilities, there will also be a writing prompt each month (a theme, a subject, an idea, etc) that you can choose to write a song for if you like (not mandatory, but encouraged).

SOLO ACTS ONLY. As a songwriter, it’s nice to have a safe environment to sing your song to a group of active listeners. Also as a songwriter, seeing another songwriter stripped down to playing on his/her own is always a very intimate and worthwhile experience, which is what we’re going for with this event.

THIS IS NOT AN OPEN MIC. In order to be on the list of performers you have to RSVP so to speak, and let me know you want to play. It’ll be on a first come, first serve basis. That being said, all are welcome to attend, granted there’s enough room, and granted the attendees be quiet and respectful. In attempt to foster an environment of listeners as opposed to the usual rowdy bar scene we’re all used to, it’s important that attendees are respectful of each performer and keep voices to a whisper. If you wish to be rowdy, or take a break from the quiet scene downstairs for a bit, the upstairs bar is a great alternative.
